The Deputy Minister of Education, Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum has urged the youth to secure a career for themselves before entering into politics.

According to him, politics should not be a career but a place where one will serve his country to the best of his or her ability.

Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum was speaking at the 2020 Pentecost Students Association(PENSA) Ghana conference in the Central Region.

“I know there are some who will say I don’t like politics, politics is bad and that is what most churches did many years back and then we turn around to complain when the people who are ruling us do not know what we want. I remember when I told a cousin of mine that I’m going into politics, he said why would you want to go into politics? politics is not for somebody like you. And I said when people do bad things in politics why do you complain.”

He added: “I don’t see politics as an end in itself, I see politics as a means to an end and that is why recently I advised students at the University of Cape Coast that you have to have a career first before you think about politics. I don’t think politics should be a career it should be a place of service, going there to use the talent God has given to you to the benefit of humankind. And that is when you get satisfaction.”
