FrimpongHearts of Oak board chairman, Togbe Afede XI has responded to claims the club is trigger happy when it comes to firing coaches.
In what seems like a defense of the action, Togbe Afede says the club has been swift in wielding the axe on coaches because they fail to meet set standards.
Former Ghana striker Kim Grant is the last Coach to be sacked following his dismissal after just one match in the 2019-20 season. Grant’s firing takes the number to 20 coaches who have been axed by the current leadership of the club.
The revered Traditional ruler who also presides over the National House of Chiefs believes the option of firing coaches reflects the ambitions of the club to attain excellence.
In an interview with GTV Sports+, Togbe Afede said “People say we change coaches, well sometimes that is a reflection of the ambitions of the club.
“Go to the history and see how many coaches Real Madrid has had in the last 15 years,” he remarked.
Togbe Afede says the club’s leadership is doing the best it can to bring back the old glory days and wants followers to massively support the agenda.
Togbe Afede also touted the members of the Hearts board especially Dr. Nyaho Tamakloe.
“So we are doing the best we can and they should also believe that in the board there is a lot of talent. We have the likes of Nyaho Tamakloe who has been in football administration at all the levels, from Accra Hearts of Oak to the FA. So we would make it.
“Many people cannot imagine where we want to take Hearts to. Maybe they are thinking about here, we are thinking about there. We only need their support, genuine support, the need to have faith in the leadership and they will see that the smiles will be back,” he ended.
