Actor and politician John Dumelo has embarked on an ambitious trek from Accra to Johannesburg.

He revealed his desire to undertake a risky road journey from Ghana to South Africa in a recent Twitter post, reflecting the spirit of wanderlust that has caught the imagination of many.

John Dumelo’s statement follows an incredible adventure by Wanderlust Ghana, a group of daring Ghanaians who embarked on a 10,000-kilometer road trip from Accra to London.

The explorers, a group of thirteen daring individuals, set off on their remarkable voyage on July 23, 2023.

Their carefully planned itinerary carried them through a patchwork of picturesque villages and cities, with each stop presenting fresh experiences and obstacles.

Starting in Accra, the party travelled through Aburi, Nsawam, Kumasi, Sunyani, and Dormaa before crossing into Cote d’Ivoire through Golokrom and continuing to Mali, Senegal, Mauritania, and Morocco before crossing into Spain by ferry.

The group drove a fleet of five different Ghanaian-registered automobiles, including a Mercedes-Benz G-Wagon, two Toyota Landcruisers (V8), a Lexus RX 350, and a Ford F150 Raptor, on a journey that saw their vehicles become carriers of beloved memories.

Richard Anim, Kwadwo Saka, Kwame Peprah, Kofi Peprah, Kwadwo Prakah-Asante, Franklin Peters, and his son Quincy, Joseph, Cyprian Ed, Kwabena Ayirebi, his brother Kojo, and the sole female driver, Nana Afua Serwaa, formed the intrepid crew that navigated the diverse landscapes and cultures encountered along the way.

Their extraordinary journey was undoubtedly accompanied by unexpected experiences that tested their determination and resourcefulness.

John Dumelo’s declaration to undertake a similar journey, albeit from Ghana to South Africa, resonates with the spirit of adventure that seems to be sweeping through the Ghanaian community.
