The Bono Regional Chairman for the New Patriotic Party has called for immediate actions to be taken to ensure Dr. Ayine is suspended from practicing law in Ghana just as lawyer for Donald Trump’s lawyer has been suspended from the practice.
A report captured by irishlegal.com has it that Trump lawyer Rudy Giuliani has been suspended from practicing law in New York because of his “demonstrably false and misleading claims” about the 2020 presidential election.
It is on the back of this that Kwame Baffoe alias Abronye DC stated on Wontumi TV that the General Legal Council of Ghana must discipline Dr. Ayine for his malicious attacks on Chief Justice Kwasi Anin-Yeboah.
Former deputy Attorney General and a member of the NDC, Dominic Ayeni has questioned the independence of the Judiciary at a forum organised by the Centre for Democratic Development, Ghana.
His remarks were endorsed by his party’s General Secretary, Mr. Johnson Asiedu Nketia and they have set an agenda to tarnish the image of the court.
Chief Justice, Kwasi Anin-Yeboah, has filed a petition to the General Legal Council of Ghana against Dr. Ayine for questioning the independence of the Judiciary.
But shortly after the move, Mr. Johnson Asiedu Nketia alias General Mosquito, launched a spirited defense for Dr. Ayine and ordered the Chief Justice to redraw his petition.
But Abronye claims the statements from Dr. Ayine and his party’s General Secretary were all deliberate attempts by the NDC to insult the current Chief Justice because he was appointed by President Akufo-Addo.
“But what they are forgetting is that when this current CJ, retires, the President would replace him with another person- so it is better they accept and respect whoever the President appoints”, he said.
According to him, the NDC has targeted the CJ because they lost the 2020 election petition.
