FrimpongThe latest death involves an elderly Ghanaian woman who reported at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) in Kumasi.
The deceased whose identity we cannot disclose for reasons of patient confidentiality, died in the early hours of today, Monday, March 23.
According to GhanaXtra.com sources, even though the deceased reported at the hospital with symptoms similar to that of COVID-19, she passed away before the test results were received from the Kumasi Center for Collaborative Research (KCCR).
It remains unclear whether this case would be publicly declared as a coronavirus death looking at how it occurred.
But the source which confirmed the news to GhanaXtra.com on condition of strict anonymity revealed that the hospital only confirmed the case to be COVID-19 related after the patient had passed away.
This is the second death to be recorded since the outbreak hit the country.
The first was on Saturday when a 61-year-old Lebanese male trader, Tarik Minkara also passed away at Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH).
