Arguably one of the most prominent private legal practitioners in Ghana, lawyer Maurice Ampaw has described actions of Assin Central MP, Kennedy Agyapong towards  High Court judge Amos Wuntah Wuni as ‘unpardonable.’

According to him, the parliamentarian has been pampered for far too long, citing that “God intentionally used these contempt charges to let him know that we all are under the law.”

Speaking in an interview on Neat FM via phone call, the renowned lawyer asserted that Kennedy Agyapong’s remarks about Judge Amos Wuntah Wuni are ‘unpardonable,’ stating that if Kennedy was possessed, then “I can excuse him.”

Highlighting what exactly led to the Assin Central MP’s outburst of anger on his television station, Net 2, Mr Ampaw asserted that it was due to a ‘mere land’ the MP and some individuals were fighting over- which he believes was not worth the outburst considering the wealth the lawmaker has in his possession and his reputation.

His comments come after the MP was summoned by High Court judge Amos Wuntah Wuni for contempt after the legislator called him “stupid.”

During a live telecast of ‘The Seat With Hon. Kennedy Agyapong’ on Net 2 TV- September 2, the 60-year-old lawmaker, called the judge “stupid” for delivering judgment when he was unaware of the case despite being the de jure owner of the land for 18 years.

“You are a stupid judge. I will face you,” Ken Agyapong said on the programme, which was simulcast on Oman FM.

“I am not Anas to take bribe from you,” he added in local language Twi. He stressed: “I will deal with you.”

His remarks is reported to have “scandalized” and “threatened” the judge and, by extension, the court in an ongoing land case.

Even though he had rendered an apology live on television just as he did when he first attacked the judge, lawyer Maurice Ampaw intimated that the MP should be made to face punishment regardless of his apology.

“His apology shouldn’t take away the fact that what he did was wrong. He should not escape punishment for this behavior. He behaves like some spirit possesses him,” he said in an interview with NEAT FM’s morning show ‘Ghana Montie.’
