Kwesi Appiah: Would they owe a white coach for 11 months?

Former Ghana coach Kwesi Appiah has been left disappointed after months of prolonged delay in paying his outstanding salaries.

Having left his job as Black Stars coach since December last year, the 59-year-old has been in the media spotlight over failures to retrieve salaries due him by the Ghana Football Association (GFA) and the Ministry of Youth and Sports (MoYS).

“I was owed money since August 2019 when there was no Covid-19, Would they owe a white coach for 11 months? Appiah quizzed.

“Avram Grant was not owed more than a month when his contract ended.

“It’s not right and should not be encouraged irrespective of whether local or foreign”.

The former Asante Kotoko coach admitted threatening to send the GFA to FIFA should the situation continued.

Meanwhile, reports on Wednesday 17th June 2020 suggests that the Kwesi Appiah has been paid $70,000 by the MoYS as part payment of his five-months salary arrears.

Kwesi Appiah enjoyed two spells in charge of the Black Stars, coaching the team between 2012 and 2014.

He was reappointed 2017 where he remained in charge until last year when the new GFA administration opted against renewing his contract.
