Manchester City are confident of beating Real Madrid in the race to sign Erling Haaland, reports ESPN.

The Premier League champions believe they are able to put together a financial package to cover the Borussia Dortmund striker’s reported €75 million (£63m/$83m) release clause, his wages and any other transfer-related payments.

The recent sales of Angelino, Ferran Torres and Jack Harrison have left the club in a strong financial position to be able to do a deal.

Real Madrid have cooled their interest in Erling Haaland due to his recent injuries and the demands of agent Mino Raiola, reports Marca.

The Borussia Dortmund striker has been heavily linked with the Blancos, ahead of an expected big-money move this summer, but those at Santiago Bernabeu are beginning to lose interest.
