Flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) John Dramani Mahama has said it was wrong for President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo to have asked the Auditor General, Daniel Domelevo, to proceed on leave.

Former President Mahama said he will not do such things if he wins this year’s elections to become president again.

Mr Domelevo was ordered to take his accumulated annual leave of 123 working days on Wednesday, July 1, 2020.

A statement released by the Presidency and signed by the Director of Communication, Eugene Arhin, on Monday, 29 June 2020,  explained that the decision to direct Mr Domelevo to take his accumulated annual leave was based on Sections 20(1) and Labour Act, 2003 (Act 651), which apply to all workers including public officeholders such as the Auditor-General.
