A man in his 40s has been lynched by a mob at Wamanafo in the Dormaa East of the Bono Region for allegedly stealing an unspecified number of goats.
The suspected thief, according to an eyewitness, has been moving around the community pilfering and stealing from the people’s farms.
“The angry mob mostly youth, therefore, decided to lynch the suspect to serve as a deterrent to other criminals,” eyewitnesses told Ark FM’s reporter.
The eyewitness also said the mob allegedly wanted to set the dead body ablaze but that was prevented by some opinion leaders in the community.
Confirming the incident, Assemblyman of Wamanafo Electoral Area, Ernest Kusi upon hearing the news, said he quickly rushed to the scene and realized the thief had been beaten to pulp, with blood oozing from his mouth, nostrils and body.
The body of the deceased has been deposited at a morgue while police continue investigations into the matter.
