FrimpongThe Mayor of Sekondi-Takoradi in the Western Region, Anthony K K Sam, died after testing positive for Covid-19, President Akufo-Addo has confirmed.
Addressing the nation on Sunday night, President Akufo-Addo said the Mayor died on Friday, June 12, describing him as “an old and valiant colleague in the struggle of the New Patriotic Party and in the work of the Akufo-Addo government.”
Affectionately called Egya Sam, the Mayor was very instrumental in enforcing social distancing protocols at Sekondi and Takoradi markets and was highly commended by many, including the President.
