The general captain of the Black Stars and African highest goal scorer at the FIFA World Cup, Asamoah Gyan on Saturday, May 30, 2020 defeated ‘Baboo’ in a Tennis friendly game.
Ismaila Nii Lante Lamptey popularly known as Baboo is a social tennis champion having won three of the last four editions of the Tema Tennis Singles Open.
Baboo is the CEO of the Baboo Group, a company with Baboo Tennis Academy, Baboo Sports shops that sells Babolat tennis racquet and apparels in Tema and Accra and Baboo fitness center as subsidiaries.
The game which lasted for about 5 hours saw both players exhibiting their prowess, but with his fighting spirit he always displays on the field of play, Asamoah Gyan fought hard to defeat Baboo by 5-7 7-5 6-3 5-7 6-4.
Many in the Tennis fraternity were not surprised after Baboo managed to defeat Gyan by 3 sets to 1 in the first leg at the TOR tennis court on May 2, 2020.
The final match is scheduled to take place at the Accra Sports Stadium Tennis court after the ban on social gathering is lifted.
