The desire of President Akufo-Addo to see Ghana winning trophies again on the international level in football competitions have been revealed by Ghana FA boss Kurt. E. S. Okraku.

Nana Addo who is an ardent football follower and a religious fan of Accra Great Olympics is unhappy Ghana has not been able to win any major trophy since 2009.

The Black Stars have failed to win the African Cup of Nation since 1982, and with the Satellites winning the World Cup in 2009, Ghana is trophy-hungry.

And at club level, the last time a Ghanaian club won a continental Trophy was in 2004.

According to the GFA President, Nana Akufo-Addo asked him when Ghana will start winning big trophies as he is yearning to witness another celebration.

“In a conversation with President Nana Addo, he asked me when will we start to bring the big trophies to Ghana?

“For me that was the voice representing the voiceless in this country, everybody in this country have been yearning for the AFCON trophy since 1982.

“We’ve not won anything at the club level beyond the triumph of Accra Hearts of oak in 2004/2005.

“Our U17 have not won anything at the mundial anymore, U20 has not won a trophy since 2009 and the women teams have equally not won anything either.

“Clearly it tells you how the country yearns for celebration of trophies,” he revealed in an interview with Ghanaweb.

Kurt’s dream to see Ghana winning has been fueled by the revelation of Nana Addo’s desire and the industrious young administrator.

With football set to return with the COVID-19 pandemic gradually showing promise of fading off, the GFA boss is set to zoom football back to winning ways.
