Two carjacking suspects shot dead at Asamankese

This comes on the back of a rising spate of vehicle theft in parts of Accra and Kumasi.

On August 27, Police shot and killed two suspected carjackers after they struck the owner of a Nissan Murano vehicle in Accra.

They were said to have fled with the vehicle from Accra to Asamankese where they were intercepted by the police during a dawn operation.

The Greater Accra Regional Police Command said in a statement that the two were killed after sustaining gunshot wounds as they engaged the uniformed men in a fierce crossfire.

One other accomplice identified as Erasmus Somuah Sekyi was however arrested in the process, the statement said.

The Nissan Murano vehicle has since been retrieved as police detain the suspect to assist investigations.
