A police bus driver was taken into custody on Wednesday, October 30, 2024, after a tragic accident at Abeka claimed the life of a motorcyclist.
The fatal crash occurred when the driver reportedly veered into the oncoming lane to bypass a congested stretch of traffic, leading to a collision that killed the rider instantly.
The incident, which took place amid preparations for a police passing-out ceremony at the police depot, added further strain to the already gridlocked traffic from Tesano to Achimota and beyond.
Felix Aryeetey, a fuel attendant at a nearby Shell station, witnessed the collision and recounted the sequence of events.
“Traffic was already backed up because of the ceremony. The police bus crossed into the opposite lane at high speed, and then there was a loud crash. The motorcyclist didn’t survive. He died instantly at the spot” he said
