Diella TekuSecurity agencies are closing in on suspects linked to Saturday’s high-profile robbery at Adabraka, Accra, after tracking the getaway vehicle to Ashaiman in Greater Accra. The stolen Toyota Highlander, with registration GN 7357-19, was captured on surveillance footage, revealing a route that included several stops before reaching Ashaiman Zenu.
The dramatic incident unfolded on November 2, when four masked gunmen launched a brazen daylight attack on a jewelry shop near Adabraka market. Eyewitnesses recounted seeing the suspects approach a red Toyota Corolla parked nearby, where they discharged rounds into the air, causing chaos as bystanders sought cover. In the ensuing moments, the assailants forced open the vehicle’s boot and made off with large sacks of cash.
Following the robbery, security cameras captured the suspects’ vehicle stopping at key locations, including the Sunny FM Roundabout, Shiashie, and Accra Mall, before veering off to Ashaiman. This footage has since circulated on social media, helping authorities build a clearer picture of the suspects’ movements.
In response, the Ghana Police Service has launched an intensive manhunt for the robbers, vowing to apprehend the gang and bring them to justice. “We would like to assure the public that we will surely get them and bring them to face justice,” read a police statement released after the incident.
The brazen robbery in a crowded market area has sparked public outcry, raising concerns about security and the prevalence of armed crime in urban centers. For now, the police are calling on residents to remain vigilant and report any information that could aid the investigation, as they increase their visibility and tighten security across Greater Accra.
As authorities ramp up efforts to track down the suspects, updates are expected in the coming days, with security officials confident they will soon close in on those responsible for this bold daytime heist.
