Diella TekuPresident-elect John Dramani Mahama has urged supporters of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) to increase their spiritual commitment, emphasizing the need for prayers to navigate the challenges ahead. Speaking at a gathering of party loyalists, Mahama called for fervent intercession to guide his incoming administration as it works to address the pressing issues facing the nation.
“This is the time we need to engage in fervent prayers more than we did during the campaign,” Mahama stated. “We ask God to grant us the strength and wisdom to implement measures that will make Ghana a better place to live. All I will say is that it is finished; God has already done it.”
Mahama highlighted the dire state of affairs left behind by the outgoing New Patriotic Party (NPP) administration, accusing them of saddling the nation with substantial debts, particularly in critical sectors like education and energy. He described the financial liabilities as a deliberate attempt to undermine the incoming government’s success.
“The NPP government has set a trap for us,” Mahama declared. “But we shall not be caught in that trap; we will escape unscathed. The Almighty God who granted us electoral victory will see us through the difficulties ahead until we achieve success.”
Despite the challenges, Mahama expressed confidence in divine intervention to steer his administration through turbulent waters. He reassured supporters that his government would focus on addressing these inherited issues while ensuring the well-being of Ghanaians.
Mahama also addressed public concerns about the delays in the disbursement of funds to the West African Examinations Council (WAEC), a situation that has attracted criticism. He acknowledged the frustrations but reiterated his commitment to finding solutions, leveraging the strength of a united front and divine guidance.
As Mahama prepares to take office, his call for prayers underscores the spiritual foundation he believes is essential for effective governance. With his sights set on overcoming economic and social hurdles, the President-elect is rallying the NDC and the nation for a collective effort to rebuild Ghana.
