It seems Professor Kwamena Ahwoi’s book “Working with Rawlings” is on a mission to reveal the secrets of former President Jerry John Rawlings and his wife Nana Konadu Agyameng Rawlings.
So far, all pages released from the book by newsmen, speak ill about the Rawlingses. The latest is on page 262 of the book, which speaks about how jealous Nana Konadu Agyemang Rawlings became and prevented close allies of her husband from getting close to him. According to Professor Kwamena Ahwoi, Nana Konadu’s constant protection of her husband led to most close confidants of Jerry John Rawlings, departing from him.
The book further revealed that, Nana Konadu Agyemang Rawlings prevented a lot of people from coming close to her husband and it was due to her ambition of becoming the flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress and to a large extent, the President of Ghana.
He recounted an incident where Nana Konadu Agyemang Rawling asked he (Professor Kwamena Ahwoi) to warn Mr. Totobi Kwaakye, who had been appointed by Rawlings as the National Security adviser.
According to Professor Kwamena Ahwoi, Totobi Kwaakye after his appointment, became very close to Rawlings and that got Nana Konadu Agyemang Rawlings angry.
She was afraid and became jealous that “Totobi Kwaakye would snatch her husband from her”. The book indicated that, working colleagues of Jerry John Rawlings automatically became rivals of Nana Konadu, who felt they were taking too much of her husband’s time. The constant attitude of Nana Konadu Agyemang Rawlings, led to the formation of a new group with the name, ‘Get Atta Mills Elected’ (GAME).
The purpose of the new group, was to form a formidable force, which will sideline the Rawlingses family. Just after GAME was formed, Nana Konadu Agyemang Rawlings also decided to counter the new group with the Friends of Nana Konadu Agyemang Rawlings (FONKAR).
Professor Kwamena Ahwoi in his book indicated that, the current unhealthy relationship between some leading Members of the NDC and founder, Jerry John Rawling should largely be blamed on Nana Konadu Agyemang Rawlings.
The book has since revealed a lot of secrets about Jerry John Rawlings and some decisions he took during his time as the President of Ghana. Most members of the National Democratic Congress are unhappy about the time Professor Ahwoi released the book. They believe, it could affect the fortunes of Mr. John Dramani Mahama in the upcoming December 2020 polls.
