Spousal rape on the rise in Ghana-Gender Minister

The Deputy Minister for Gender, Women, Children and Social Protection ,Freda Prempeh says spousal rape is on the rise as more and more women keeps reporting their husband’s at the Gender Ministry for such offense.

Freda Prempeh in interview on UTV’s United showbiz said women who suffer spousal rape looses their self confidence, becomes timid and fearful which leads to depression and other diseases.

Adding her voice to the same issue, Counselor Rev Mrs Charlotte Osei added that spousal rape is also prominent among Pastors and the clergy.
She continued that most marriages are like the master and servant relationship where a woman doesn’t even have rights over her body where there is no communication or friendship among them and most men forcefully have their ways with women as and when they feel for it.

She advised couples to have extensive communication daily about their sexual needs and preferences and prepare each other mentally before love making.
