The Black Stars of Ghana have moved up four places in the most recent FIFA Ranking

The Black Stars who were 51st in the last ranking, have moved up to 47th in the ranking released on Thursday, November 28.

Ghana climbed up to 6th position in the African ranking behind Senegal (1), Tunisia (2), Nigeria(3), Algeria (4) and Morocco(5) are also in the top five positions.

The Black Stars in the last month got two wins out of two in the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers. They defeated South Africa 2-0 home and São Tomé and Principe 1-0 to move to the top of Group C in African Cup of Nations Qualifications.

Ghana’s performance at the 2010 World Cup finals saw the country record the best ever ranked placing.

Ghana, making its second consecutive appearance at the world stage reached the quarter-finals in South Africa and were the best side from the host continent.

The governing body’s post-tournament rankings placed the Black Stars 7th out of the 32 teams following the exit in the last eight through penalty shootouts to Uruguay.

Black Stars coach, James Kwesi Appiah, the players and the technical handlers of the team will look at the latest development and be encouraged to make giant strikes in making the national team fearless on the continent and in the world once again.

In the world, Belgium remain atop of world football in the latest ranking followed by world champions France, Brazil, England and Uruguay.

Croatia, Portugal, Spain, Argentina and Colombia complete the top 10.

Italy have climbed two places in the latest FIFA rankings and are now 13th after winning 10 out of 10 in the Euro 2020 qualifiers.

In Asia, Myanmar (136) has made a significant rise by 11 places besides Kuwait (147, up 9) thanks to their performance in the Qatar2022 preliminaries.

The next FIFA/Coca-Cola World Ranking will be published on 19 December 2019.
