In 1996, Tom Cruise witnessed a hit and run and stayed with the victim in the hospital and paid for her hospital bills.
He was driving in Los Angeles when he witnessed a hit and run. He got out of his vehicle and went to help the driver who was hit. Heloisa Vinhas, the driver, broke her leg in the accident and Tom, seeing the damage, asked a pedestrian to call an ambulance.
When it arrived he went with her to the hospital and when they arrived she told the doctors she had no insurance, and Tom offered to pay for her bill which was over $7.000.
Heloisa later told PEOPLE:
If he’s not Superman, he can be Batman — Batman doesn’t have superpowers.
