Two persons have been shot by some six suspected land guards at Adeiso in the Upper West Akyim District of the Eastern Region.

The two are currently receiving treatment at the Koforidua Government Hospital.

Three out of the six suspects were, however, arrested by the Adeiso District Police Command while the other three bolted with an amount of GH¢900,000.

Samuel Atsu Forson, whose land concession these suspected land guards stormed, told Onua TV and Onua FM that on Tuesday afternoon, these suspects stormed various land winning sites in the District and started intimidating and extorting monies from them.

He said on reaching his concession, they forcibly retrieved an amount of GH¢900,000 from his accountant on site and when two of his workers questioned why they took the amount, the suspected land guards shot them in the legs.

Mr. Atsu Forson explained that the suspect at this point bolted but due to the vigilance of the people and the Adeiso police, three were arrested while the remaining three bolted with the amount.

He alleged that the police carried a search in the vehicles and guns and ammunition were found.

Mr. Forson alleged that he went to the Adeiso Police Command in the evening to follow up on the case and the Commander, Mr. Barfour Awuah, allegedly told him that the Eastern Regional Minister, Seth Acheampong, had called for the release of the three who were arrested.

The police commander and the Regional Minister are yet to comment on the issue since they were unable to pick up their calls at the time of filing this report.
