Members of the Senior Staff Association of the Public Universities (SSA-UoG) will return to post by Monday, June 14, 2021, after calling off their industrial action.
A copy of a letter addressed to the National Labour Commission, dated June 11, 2021, and signed by the National Chairman, Zakaria Mohammed said the decision comes after both parties reached a middle-ground in the impasse.
“This has become imperative as a result of various interventions made by some key stakeholders and Government Agencies, culminating in a road map that will serve as a guide to ensure sincere, balance, fair and a speedy resolution of all the impasse between us and Government,” the letter said.
According to the leadership of the Association, they will still engage faithfully with government and the relevant stakeholders to push for the payment of its Tier2 pension contribution arrears with appropriate accrued interest and the award of market Premium and Non-basic allowance to Union members.
Members of the Senior Staff Association in the public universities until June 11, 2021, have been on strike since 18th May 2021.
