Joe PeeThe Municipal Chief Executive, hon Solomon Kesse in an interview disclosed to Offinso journalist Kaakyire Kwasi Afari that each family of the 38 accident victims received a hooping cheque of two thousand Ghana cedis (gh¢2,000), from amount donated by the Government, Sports Ministry and sympathisers.
The families again in a unanimously agreed and urged the Traditional Authority to pay from the endowment fund, a One thousand Ghana cedis (gh¢1,000) to the coach of African Vision Soccer Academy to support his activities.
Eight out of 38 players of African Vision Soccer Academy died in a road accident on the Offinso-Sunyani Highway.
According to the reports the team was returning from Kumasi following a registration process for the next colts football season where the vehicle transporting them veered off the road and fell into the bunks of Offinso River and six of the players died instantly, while two were confirmed later at the hospital.
Four of the eight young players who perished in a road accident at Offinso on Saturday 19th September, 2020 have been laid to rest.
The Paramount Chief of Offinso Traditional Area Nana Wiafe Akenten (lll) at the funeral durbar announced ten thousand Ghana CEDI’s (gh¢10,000) endowment fund to support the bereaved family.
The Municipal Chief executive, hon Solomon Kesse, hinted that the Government will build an AstroTurf park in Offinso South municipal in the Ashanti Region in memory of the Eight (8) Young footballers who died in a bus accident.
The MCE urged the parents to let the bygones be bygones and assist the football team to revamp their activities.
The beneficiaries thanked the government and the Traditional Authority’s for honouring their pledge to the accident victims.
According to them, they finds the redemption of the pledge by the government inspirational to the families.
Kwame Duodu, a family member told Kaakyire Kwasi Afari that the gesture would go a long way to alleviate their plight adding that, haven’t been the intervention of the government and the Traditional Authorities, they couldn’t have paid the hospital bills.
