Joe PeeIn Nigeria, government officials are now abusing their authority in several ways, one of which is physically assaulting civilians. The officials that are supposed to protect the citizens are now the predators oppressing the citizens.
A viral video has been making rounds on social media recently. In the video an officer of the Lagos State Traffic Management Agency (LASTMA) was seen fighting and attempting to tear apart a female passenger sitting in a private vehicle.
The incident happened at Aromire junction off AwolowoWay, Ikeja, Lagos.
During the fight some road users and a male LASTMA officer tried to stop the vexed female official, but she still broke loose, she continued to assault the passenger till the car zoomed off.
The management of LASTMA has however addressed the issue, stating that the offending official has been invited for questioning.
LASTMA made this known via a post on their Twitter page(@followLASTMA) on Saturday September 12.
“This video was forwarded to the management and the officer has been invited for investigation and disciplinary action for misrepresenting the agency.
The incident occurred at Aromire junction off AwolowoWay, Ikeja yesterday, Friday, 11th September.” They tweeted.
