Ghana is an interesting country. A country that can easily astonish you with intriguing, sad, disappointing, and funny stories all at once.
One of such stories is of a blind man who’s currently in prison for defilement. Astonishing right?
Narrating his story to the Crime Check TV, the blind man explained that he was at the orphanage, and one day, as he was relaxing in the Hall, he felt that someone was touching his manhood but he could not stop him because he was blind and eventually allowed the person to have their way because it was enjoyable at a point and he lost his self-control.
The blind man claimed that the Lady jumped on him and started “operating” but stopped midway because the supervisor of the orphanage was approaching the location of their operation. The prisoner stressed that he could not have known the age of the lady because he’s blind to even see her face and stature but from the way she was operating, he doesn’t believe the young lady was underage.
He revealed that the Lady reported him the next day to the supervisor and accused him of rape and defilement. He was then arrested and processed for court, he revealed that he didn’t even have a lawyer and was advised by the case officer to plead guilty before he could blink, he was in prison serving a seven years sentence.
The blind man shared some of the hard times he encounters daily in prison.
“When you are blind but still have to compete for space in prison with those who can see. Unfortunately, our prisons do not have disability-friendly facilities.”
