Why the ultra wealthy people never show off.

For the most part, you don’t get to be ultra-wealthy by being lazy, stupid or for nothing. It’s hard work all the way to the top, and contrary to what scammers tell you, it’s not easy. Besides, the cost is high.

Unless you were born with a silver spoon in your hands, you have to toil each and every day, besides waking up earlier than everyone else whether you’re broke or not, whether you’re feeling unwell or not, whether you’re happy or sad. Besides, you have 24 hours just like everybody.

Firstly, getting wealthy, let alone getting ultra-wealthy is not about showing off or proving anything to anybody. It is about accumulating resources and ensuring that they’re well utilized. A prudent wealthy person doesn’t leave most of his/her wealth to his/her children. They already have enough. He or she gives it to charity. That’s the best way to ensure their name is remembered.

Secondly, having worked your ass off so hard all your life to accumulate what you’ve legitimately earned all those years, made losses most of the time, having no count of sleepless nights, you don’t want some low-life taxman or some hapless insurance salesman chasing you everywhere for your hard-earned cash.

Thirdly, you worked so hard in order to enjoy peace and privacy. You don’t want some miserable paparazzi (out to earn a few quick bucks for some gutter press newspaper or magazine), peeping in your bedroom through the window at midnight just to get a quick shot of you sleeping butt naked peacefully with your wife.

Fourthly, you want to enjoy happiness and peace of mind. You don’t want thousands of people camping around your house begging for something to eat or asking for money. I’m not saying don’t give to poor people, or people in need, but giving to people in need, and having thousands of people camping around your house is a different matter.

Fifthly, you want to keep your valuables safe, and your own security intact. You don’t want thieves and burglars trying to break into your house every day because they saw you in town wearing designer clothes and gold chains around your neck, and driving an expensive car worth $1,000,000. Security is expensive, and the more valuables you expose, the more you pay for security. It’s wiser and cheaper to not display so much to the public eye.

Lastly, you can’t imagine how the ultra-wealthy wish they could live a “normal” life, how they wish they could just walk into any McDonald’s and order a burger and coke just like everybody else. To you, this is normal life, but to them, this freedom has been taken away by their status.

You can’t park a Rolls-Royce anywhere without raising eyebrows. And sometimes, you can see a beautiful girl walking in the street, but you can’t just go and talk to her because you fear you might scare her off.

I can’t even begin to tell you how risky it is for the ultra-wealthy to show off. Not that they don’t want to. It’s the risk of doing it that’s too expensive. Most ultra-wealthy people get tempted to do it because they’re only human, but they’re also aware that doing so would expose them.

So they prefer to be wiser and forgo taking the risk.
