The Secretary to the Board of Trustees of the National Cathedral, Reverend Kusi Boateng has indicated that no impediment will stop the building of the National Cathedral which is expected to commence in earnest in the first week of April.

President Akufo-Addo, on Thursday, laid the foundation stone to commence the construction of the controversial 5,000 seater Cathedral which has been received with mixed reaction by Ghanaians.

The groundbreaking ceremony to kickstart the project follows a ruling by the Supreme Court which gives government go-ahead to begin construction.

Referring to the attempt by Tobias and Sanballat to stop Nehemia from constructing a House of God, Rev Kusi Boateng said all opposition to the construction of the National Cathedral will fail.

“We have won the civil case in the supreme court, and this is the work of God. Tobias and Sanballat tried stopping Nehemiah from a building but they never succeeded, they can go to court as many times as they want to but this Cathedral will surely be built,” he added.

Speaking on Accra-based Starr News, the Secretary to the Board of Trustees, Rev. Kusi Boateng indicated that there is readiness among the people who have volunteered to help raise an edifice for God and with the financing of the President, the construction will begin as planned.

“We are witnessing the groundbreaking and the laying of the foundation stone by His Excellency the President and a couple of Ghanaian Christian bodies and a couple of dignitaries. Officially, the building of the National Cathedral is about starting. We are very resolute, this Cathedral will be built. We have too many people that are ready and like the President promised us the monies are on the way some people are ready to see the construction so they give what they want to give” he noted.

The massive 5,000 seater National Cathedral will be surrounded by more than five hectares of landscaped gardens and other biblical symbolism which will be imported from Isreal.

It will also serve as an interdenominational Christian Cathedral with facilities such as chapels, a baptistery, a music school, an art gallery, and a Bible museum.
