Police in the Ashanti Region have begun investigations into claims of death threats on the life of the General Secretary of the NDC in the Asawase Constituency.
Mugis Madhi reported the matter to the police after sharing the yet-to-be-identified texter’s message online.
The message sent via SMS to the NDC scribe on Monday, October 26, 2020, reads: “Be ready mugis your death is near you. You won’t live to your wedding day trust me. You will pay for what you have done”.
Mugis tells Dailymailgh.com that he has since officially informed the party hierarchy and provided evidence to the police to aid in their investigations.
“So the matter came as a surprise to me. As a matter of urgency, I quickly reported the issue to the police and also to my superiors at the party level because I wouldn’t know whether the matter is politically motivated or not”, the NDC scribe said in an interview with Dailymailgh.com.
Mugis adds that he has been taken through some security tips and has also been urged to be extra vigilant.
The NDC constituency secretary indicated that the matter comes barely a week to his wedding, adding he has decided to make the issue public to let Ghanaians know about what is happening.
Mahdi has been a vocal communicator for the NDC in the Ashanti Region.
