A group calling itself the Concerned Youth of Agona Nyakrom wants the NDC parliamentary aspirant for Agona West called to order, accusing him of stoking division among residents.
Mr. Paul Ofori Amoah, the group claimed, has been making statements calculated at causing citizens, especially the youth of Agona Nyakrom to lock horns with people in Swedru.
“We have followed the campaign messages and tactics of the NDC parliamentary candidate, Paul Amoah with much displeasure,” the group said in a statement on Friday. “It has become his tactics to incite and instigate tribal and unhealthy tension between Swedru and Nyakrom for his selfish and political interest against that of the constituency.”
“We the Concerned Youth of Agona Nyakrom wish to announce our displeasure and distance ourselves from the tribal politics of the NDC parliamentary candidate, Mr. Paul Ofori Amoah.”
The statement advised Mr. Amoah and his followers to stop associating Nyakrom with his “outmoded and despicable tribalism”.
It further called on the opposition NDC in Agona West to distance itself from the candidate and stop him from creating divisions in the constituency “else we will stop him”.
It said, “We like to state emphatically that we’re not happy with such attempts that seek to destroy our tradition. He should not take us for granted or insult our intelligence. We are very much aware of that his cheapest play on the intelligence of our people.
“We have lived with everybody peacefully over decades and we will not allow him and his cohorts to destroy the social fibers of our society because of his political interest.”
The Concerned Youth of Nyakrom has also asked the NDC candidate to rather focus on redeeming his “tainted reputation” in the constituency that is bringing the good name of the area into disrepute.
